Michael was born and raised in the Midwest. He attributes his father and the environment in which he was raised for his work ethic and family values. It was here that he also developed his passion for the outdoors. He began his career in the finance industry in 1989 after graduating from the University of Northern Iowa. The Mortgage business is in his blood.
Michael is married to Nikki Groff who is also in the Mortgage business Nikki has managed mortgage branches, been a top producer as well as a nationally recognized speaker on loan productions and mortgage production systems. It is no wonder that their 5 children (4 girls and the youngest a boy) all speak 'mortgage'. They range in age from college students to junior high.
Michael has been working closely with his partner, friend and mentor Jim Volk (chairman of Wallick and Volk) for over a decade. Together they have grown Wallick and Volk to a Billion dollar year origination company.

Jim was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After graduating from the University of Wyoming in 1963, he joined the company in August of that year as the first member of the third generation of the Wallick and Volk family. At that time, the company had six employees and three real estate agents. In the ensuing decades, the company substantially expanded its loan origination, mortgage servicing, real estate, and insurance divisions. The insurance and mortgage servicing divisions were sold in the 1990's and the real estate division in 2005. Jim became president in 1980 after the untimely death of his father, Roy Volk. Part of his activities have included numerous real estate developments, including both residential and commercial projects. He continues to maintain his Real Estate Brokers license.
Today, Jim has the title of CEO/Chairman after Michael Groff's promotion to President in November, 2005. Jim continues to be active in the management of Wallick & Volk.
Steve rejoined Wallick & Volk in November 2005 after serving a previous stint from 1993 to 1997. A Wyoming native, Steve obtained his CPA license after graduating from the University of Wyoming in 1988.
Steve prides himself on being more than just an accountant as he has been involved in all areas of the mortgage banking business including overseeing 10 offices in Arizona and Wyoming with his previous employer.
Today, Steve serves as Senior Vice President and CFO overseeing accounting, administration and information technology.
Steve and his wife, Caroline, have 3 children, Brent, Matthew and Sarah.
Dave Heuermann started his mortgage banking career as a loan officer in 1985 with Sun State Savings in Phoenix. He has originated retail mortgages as a banker and as a broker, managed retail mortgage branches for mortgage bankers and a commercial bank, and at all levels of management. Dave started a privately held mortgage banking company that provided lending services throughout the southwest through its 11 branches and its wholesale channel. Dave sold this company at the top of the market in 2005.
Dave is Past-President of the Arizona Mortgage Lenders Assoc. and has served on multiple bank and Realtor association boards.
Dave is proud of the elite nature of the Wallick & Volk team and has enjoyed participating in the success experienced here since he joined them in 2007.
After growing up in Durham Connecticut, Rob considers himself a Wyoming native as he has lived in Cheyenne since 1978. Rob began his mortgage banking career in 2001 with Major Mortgage. While at Major Mortgage he held various positions (loan officer, Branch Manager and Secondary Marketing Manager). In 2006 Rob joined Wallick and Volk as the Branch Manager for the Cheyenne Branch. In April of 2010 joined Wallick and Volk's Senior Management team as the SVP, Capital Markets.
Rob and his wife Cindy have 2 children, Jorden and Kaylie.
Sara started her mortgage banking career in Illinois in 1985. She has experienced all aspects of mortgage banking on the operational side, from processing, closing, underwriting, shipping, insuring and software implementation.
Sara is described as a sales friendly ops manager, but has never enjoyed the sales side of mortgage lending like she does the Ops side. She has a unique combination of people and systems skills; she excels at implementing mortgage software systems as well as leading a work force and connecting with borrowers.
Sara is married, has a son and two rescue dogs.
Sara joined Wallick & Volk in 2010 as the SVP of Operations and continues to enjoy her role as a member of the Senior Management Team at Wallick & Volk.
